3rd Annual Black Little Dress Soirée-Prostate Cancer

The 3rd Annual Little Black Dress-All Black Soirée for Prostate Cancer was held on November 21st. It took place at Suite Lounge. I must say Suite Lounge supports a lot of events and foundations and I love it. I love seeing when we can come out and support each other for a great cause.

Chandon Carter the coordinator of the 3rd Annual event, step dad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer so this was close to home for him. I learned so much about prostate cancer this night.

Before I get into that. I want to say this was a great event to attend and network. There were a lot of entrepreneurs that night. From real estate, therapist, event planners, authors and more.

Now back to the event and what it is about. We have all heard of prostate cancer and know what it is. Some of us might know it as cancer that is diagnosed in men. But, the text book meaning A cancer in a man’s prostate, a small walnut-shaped gland that produces seminal fluid.

As I sat there and listened to Chadon talk about his step dad being diagnosed with prostate cancer, and how many men are afraid to get checked 1. because they do not want to know 2. because they do not like the exam. But just like women need to get their breast checked, men need to get checked as well. Prostate Cancer is found in the ages 41 and up. Just because you are under the age of 41 doesnt mean you shouldn’t get checked. Accoridng to zocdoc.com African American men should get a checkup starting at the age of 40.

I was most touched by Larry Love (host and radio personality) story who was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Larry Love is a prostate cancer survivor. Larry provided the guest of the night with the symptoms of prostate cancer.  I remember him saying frequently using the bathroom , pain in the leg and more. For refrence and to learn more visit http://www.webmd.com/prostate-cancer/guide/prostate-cancer-symptoms-types

Mothers, Wives,Daughters, Sons, Brothers….take your loved ones to be checked. You are never too young to be checked. If caught early the survival rate is higher.

If you missed the 3rd Annual. DO NOT MISS THe 4TH ANNUAL BLACK LITTLE DRESS SOIRÈE-PROSTATE CANCER

Loose Ends Performs Live

The legendary group Loose Ends originally from the U.K just closed their mini tour out in Richmond Virginia.

Jane Eugene the lead singer of dance floor classics such as “Slow Down”, “Hangin on a string” & “Watchin you” sat down with Six Twelve Magazine.

Loose Ends was the first U.K group to go #1 in the U.S on the R & B charts. 31 years later both loyal and new fans continue to be moved by their music.

New music can be expected from the group Loose Ends in 2016. When asked which Producers would you like to collaborate with? Jane quickly replied “Missy Elliott”!

We anxiously await to see what the future holds for Loose Ends as they don’t show any signs of slowing down.

The DNA of Achievers with Mathew Knowles

The DNA OF Achievers a new book by the man himself Mathew Knowles. We all know Mathew Knowles as the manager and creator of one of the hottest female R&B  groups Destiny’s Child; and a Grammy Nominated Award Winner.

Listening to Mathew Knowles talk about his journey through his career was an eye opener for me.  Not only is he a manager but he is a professor at Texas Southern University where he teaches entertainment management and more. .

He talked about his childhood, working as a professor and working in the music industry. Mr. Knowles has worked with a lot of artist that I’m pretty sure some of us were not aware of. But, I will not get into that right now it is all about his new book. Which is currently listed as Amazon #1 best seller.

Mr. Knowles talks about the top 10 traits (Passion, Work Ethics, Vision, Risk-Takers, Team Building, Talk-To-Do Ratio, Planning, Learning from Failure, Giving Back, and Thinking Outside the Box.

Mr. Knowles touched base on  a few of the traits. Now I would share each trait with you, but if I do that would you go and purchase the book? No. I didn’t think so. So with that being said go and purchase the book. Avaliable now on Amazon.com

I had a chance to ask Mr. Knowles: Becoming an author is a huge step from managing do you think the world would be receptive of the change?

So in order to find out the answer to Mr. Knowles questions please subscribe to Six Twelve Magazine Youtube page.

ATL Live On The Park Season Finale with Angie Stone

ATL Live On The Park had their season finale on Tuesday, November 10th. ATL Live On the Park has had some great entertainers come by and grace the stage. From Silk, Demetria Mckinney, Tyra B, Lyfe Jennings and more. But, they closed it out with a bang with R&B Diva Angie Stone. Angie Stone had the chance to meet with media and talk about her career and upcoming album.

Now we all know Angie Stone from her hit singles Brothers, which just so happens to be one of her favorite songs that she has done. To let us know that we have help our Brothers and not the kick them down but bring them up. You may also know Ms. Stone from *singing* My sunshine has come, and I’m all cried out. And there’s no more rain in this cloud. We have all had days like this, but when you get through it you get through. This as you can see is my favorite song. Hence I started singing.

As I had the chance to listen to her tell her story. The first thing that came to my mind is you never know  what a person is going through. You should not assume. I had the chance to ask Ms. Stone do you consider yourself a pioneer or an icon? Ms. Angie responded Pioneer. She does not consider herself as an Icon until she wins her a grammy.

She has been nominated for a grammy, but has yet to win. The fact that she was able to humble herself and say that she is not icon says a lot. When a person is able to humble themselves it shows who a person really is. In my eyes Angie Stone is an ICON, but I respect what she feels about herself and her career.

Angie Stone performed her hit singles. As well as music from her new album Dream available in stores and online.
