Boris Kodjoe’s Tennis Family Fun Night Benefiting Sophie’s Voice Foundation

By: Asia Diamond

Six Twelve Magazine had the chance to attend Boris Kodjoe’s Tennis Family Fun Night Benefiting Sophie’s Voice Foundation.
The Sophie’s Voice Foundation “Supports Global Health and Wellness Initiatives in Multicultural Communities”
It was a pleasure to see how many people came out to support the foundation from Cynthia Bailey, Frank Ski, Ryan Cameron, Jack Stock and more.
Seeing Boris and Nicole with their daughter Sophie is amazing. Sophie walks with a smile on her face, and when her favorite song “Single Ladies” comes on you are sure to catch her on the dance floor doing her Single Ladies dance.
I have to be honest I never knew anything about Spinal Bifida until I attended the event. I have learned so much about the birth defect. I learned that it affects 8 babies a day.  As a new mom  I do not know how I would have handled knowing if my daughter was affected by this. It affects the bladder function, leg function and bowel function. Boris stated that they (Nicole and himself) want “mothers/ women to know they can protect themselves by taking folic acid.” Listening to Boris and Nicole talk about this defect has opened my eyes. Especially if my husband and I plan on trying for another one. The saying you learn something new everyday goes a long way.
I will and have to say Sophie is an amazing girl and you will never know that she has Spinal Bifida. She is a very happy, young and blessed girl who has two amazing parents who are teaching people about her condition. If you never heard of Spinal Bifida or want to learn more visit
