Cut Throat Kitchen Viewing Party feat. Chef Tregaye

The event was so much more than this write up can give you.  You would have wanted to be there to see, smell and taste what this event was about.  We all watched as Chef Tregaye cooked her competition to become the victor of Cut Throat Kitchen.

I had the opportunity to speak with Chef Tregaye personally giving her the chance to clue me in on some of her proudest moments, which included competing on another Food Network show, Guy’s Grocery Games- Family Edition with her sister and brother, the partnership opportunity with Saving Our Daughters where she will offer cooking classes to young girls, cooking for the prince of Saudi Arabia and President Obama himself and the offer for two other Food Network shows.

The Viewing Party had a fun and loving environment, filled with all of Tregaye’s family, friends and all around support system.  The food was excellent, the drinks flowed freely and the laughs were endless, but the greatest part of the night was when they announced “…and the winner is, Chef Tregaye.”  The loudest and most enjoyable eruption of cheers and applause rang out in the room.

The chef tells me that with a line of ‘Savory Cakes’, cupcakes which come in flavors including Chicken and Waffles, Meatloaf, Lobster and PB&J to name a few, there are possible plans of opening a small kitchen. In the meantime though, you can catch Chef Tregaye doing what she loves, cooking, catering and traveling. Her journey is just beginning!

You can contact Tregaye on IG @cheftregaye, Facebook as Chef Tregaye Fraser and on her website

Activate 2k14

On Saturday September, 20th Lucinda Cross held her annual “Activate” conference at the NY Times Center. Having never heard of nor attended a prior “Activate” conference I completely went in an open mind. I was greeted by African dancers from the Harlem Dance Company, who were by the way AMAZING. The Times Center over flowed with beautiful faces of women from all backgrounds ranging in ages 25-60 all with one goal in mind, leaving encouraged and ready to ACTIVATE. There was a brief red carpet followed by the entering of the auditorium.
The conference opened up with an introduction by our Emcee, Robin Devonish Scott, followed by an interview/discussion with actresses Ke Ke Palmer and Sherri Shepard. The conference continued with motivating words from Coach Felicia Scott, Miko Hope, Yandy Smith, Tiphani Montgomery just to name a few.
During breaks motivated individuals were introducing themselves to one another and exchanging business contacts. Awards were given to individuals whom in the past year have done exceptional at putting their work into “Activate” mode. Ilyasha Al Shabazz, the daughter of Malcolm X, presented one of the awards. Ending the conference with a motivating speech from the coordinator and Activate Mastermind herself, Mrs. Lucinda Cross.
